Monixio ("we", "our", or "us") is a budgeting application that helps you track your spending by importing bank transaction data from CSV files. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign up using Google OAuth, we receive and store:

Your email address
Your Google profile name (for display purposes)
Your Google user ID (to identify your account)

We do not receive or store your Google password. Authentication is handled securely by Google.

Financial Transaction Data

When you upload CSV files, we store:

Transaction dates
Transaction amounts
Transaction descriptions (merchant names, etc.)
Account identifiers you create (e.g., "My Checking Account")
Categories you assign to transactions

We do not collect: Your bank login credentials, full account numbers, social insurance numbers, or other government IDs.

Payment Information

If you subscribe to Monixio Premium, payment is processed by Stripe. We store:

Your Stripe customer ID
Subscription status and billing period
Payment history (amounts and dates)

We do not store your credit card number. All payment details are handled securely by Stripe. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.

How We Use Your Information

Provide the Service: Store and display your transactions, calculate budgets, and generate reports.
AI Categorization: Send transaction descriptions to AI providers to automatically categorize your expenses (see "Third-Party AI Services" below).
Improve the Service: Analyze usage patterns to improve features (in aggregate, not individually).
Customer Support: Respond to your questions and requests.
Billing: Process subscription payments through Stripe.

Third-Party AI Services

To provide automatic transaction categorization, we send transaction descriptions to third-party AI providers. The following providers may be used:

DeepSeek (default for categorization)
OpenAI (GPT models)
Groq (for CSV structure detection)
Cerebras (alternative for CSV detection)

What we send: Transaction descriptions and amounts only. We do not send your name, email, account numbers, or other personally identifying information.

Why: To determine which budget category each transaction belongs to based on the merchant description.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon (neon.tech), a cloud database provider. The database connection uses encrypted TLS connections.

Our application is deployed on Render (render.com), a cloud platform provider.

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data, but no system is 100{}ecure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your Google account.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription:

You retain access until the end of your billing period
After a 90-day grace period, your data may be deleted

You may request deletion of your account and data at any time by contacting us.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data.

We share data only with:

AI Providers: Transaction descriptions for categorization (see above)
Stripe: Payment processing
Google: Authentication only
Infrastructure Providers: Neon (database), Render (hosting)

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your data stored in Monixio
Correct inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and data
Export your transaction data
